San Francisco Power Couple/ Farah & Victor Makras

Farah and Victor Makras have been named one of 2017’s power couples by “The Nob Hill Gazette”…….  Victor, a real estate guru and his beautiful wife Farah, a well known philanthropist, have been known to throw fabulous parties at their Marina mansion says the Gazette.

We met on a foggy spring day at their SPECTACULAR Marina Blvd. mansion. I have always swooned over these homes with their iconic views and beautiful architecture. Seeing these homes dressed up for the holidays is something I look forward to every year! When I arrived, makeup artist Andrea Ortega Costigan, co-founder of Salt Spell Beauty in Marin was putting the finishing touches on Farah’s hair & makeup. As they were finishing up, I looked around the main floor for the best locations to shoot. With it’s wide open windows facing the Marina, there was plenty of natural light to photograph with. I was struck by some of the features in the home, like the fireplace that reminded me of a glass of sparkling rose’. Victor said it was made with metal tiles and glass that looked like pieces of amber that the flames burned through. The tiny bulb ceiling lighting is absolutely genius! And of course the iconic San Francisco views take your breath away.

Victor and Farah are an absolutely lovely couple inside and out. They met in San Francisco 20 years ago. Victor describes noticing Farah’s beauty and style first, but her laugh was a close second states “The Gazette”. Actually both Farah and Victor have impeccable style.

While I was there, the Mayor called! Not surprising since the couple has close ties to City Hall. Victor has worked as a Commissioner for both SF Police and SF Fire. Dept.  Photos of Farah, Victor and their beautiful home below!

Editorial equestrian photo shoot with London based model Ruby

Petaluma Boudoir image

Ruby is a London based model, here on the west coast for a little R & R. This Croatian/Serbian beauty has quite a story! As a child she had to flee her country for her life because of the ethnic cleansing. She spends a lot of time traveling the world and considers herself a gypsy. My sweet boy “Oliver” is the handsome prince (Oh, I mean horse) in these photos. This B&W collection is something all always treasure and will remind me of the short but unforgettable time spent with this stunning, soulful and very wise young model! LOVE YOU RUBY!!!!! Hair by Angela Johnson Hinds.

Bay Area Model photographer/ Josh’s studio session

I’ve known Josh since he was just a kid! He and my son Matt have been friends as long as I can remember. Josh has always been one of most genuinely nicest guys I know. ( Those are his Grandparents tattoo’d on his chest) How sweet is that???? Recently, Josh was signed to Scout Model & Talent agency and he’s doing some awesome gigs! He reminds me of a young Brad Pitt. Originally I wanted this collection to be B&W, but when I saw the beautiful skin tone and those piercing green eyes, I fell in love with the color. YOUR WELCOME! XOXO, Mary

Bay Area Fashion Photographer/my favorite Russian muse

This editorial fashion photo shoot at the Hotel Petaluma with beautiful Russian model Liza was absolutely wonderful! After several years of absence in my life, I heard from her…….Liza reached out to me because she had some free time in between jobs. I was beyond thrilled to hear from her! Liza has always been my favorite muse. With her self described “Fabulousness”, her amazing wardrobe, rockin’ body and that Russian accent have made for my most favorite and memorable photoshoots. We met at The Hotel Petaluma after Megan Murphy (my daughter in law) of Urban Elements Salon had styled her hair. Liza had 2 gorgeous boho maxi dress from Ooh La Loft, an amazing maxi skirt by Alice and Olivia which we paired with the sequin crop top, the peach colored formal dress is one she wore as a bridesmaid in her friend’s wedding. Also used for styling was a white faux fur from “For Love and Lemons” and some battery operated twinkle lights.

Bay area senior portrait photographer/ Blue Velvet Valentine

The blue crushed velvet and Carmel’s eyes were absolutely mesmerizing……. this is only one portion of the photoshoot which was perfectly planned during a break in this crazy rainy season. Valentine’s Day is this week and these photos capture the fun and fashion of the season. The blue velvet dress is from OOH LA LOFT. Makeup by Mandy at Sensational Skin Petaluma, Hair by Rapunzel’s. It all came together like perfectly at the French inspired hotel ,The Metro. This is a style I like to call Modern/Vintage! A perfect combo of the new and the old, the trendy and the classic. This shoot was so special because ,when Carmel was three, I had the pleasure of photographing her during a family portrait shoot! Carmel is now a Senior attending  St. Vincent’s High School. It’s just amazing seeing the little girl I photographed 15 years ago all grown up and so incredibly beautiful, both inside and out.

Petaluma/Santa Rosa Senior photographer/1970’s California Road Trip

Boho styled girls

It was love at first sight when I saw the Native American trading post in Sebastopol on HWY. 116!!! Some of my favorite memories of being a child was driving to Montana to visit my Grandparents and cousins. It would usually take several days and along the way were Indian Trading Posts. They were always filled with treasures you’d never see anywhere else. Sebastopol’s “Native Rider’s” is the only Trading Post in between Arizona And Washington state. They have beautiful American made hats, furs clothing and exquisite vintage jewelry. (check out the squash blossom necklaces in this shoot) Definitely worth checking out! Thank you Native Rider’s for letting us shoot there! Or crash your establishment on Memorial Day! I can’t say enough about how wonderful these Senior models are! They include Makenna Mattei and Maddie Kenyon Mattei from Casa Grande, Ashley Ayers from Petaluma, Haley Antonini from St. Vincent’s and Jullie Bundesen from Cardinal Newman.Thank you so much!!! You girls ROCK!!!

We literally went on a little Road trip in Sebastopol hitting some awesome and funky spots for this shoot. The styling is by me with input from each model. The girls did their own hair & makeup for a natural “road trip” look. My inspiration and some of the clothes are from Spell Designs Australia, surprise, surprise! #Spelladdict

ENJOY! MJM

Bay Area Boudoir Photographer/ Jessica’s summer rain editorial

The plan was set in motion……Jessica wanted to do a special boudoir editorial shoot with her boyfriend’s other love, his Mustang! Don’t ask me what year it is, I’m a girl, come on. She had made up an excuse for having to have it on the day we had scheduled the shoot and getting it away from her boyfriend was no easy task. The forecast was calling for rain but I was keeping my fingers crossed! Jessica was photographed at Bloomfield Farm and THANK GOD, they had a barn we were able to pull the car into and stay dry, at least for a while. We did make it up to a wispy knoll and then it began to rain! Not to hard, just a little bit. We decided to go with it and get a little wet, and those are my favorites. A little wet and wild. Jessica’s AMAZING shoes are all Louboutin’s! The white faux fur is “For Love and Lemons

Bay Area Senior Photographer/ Tess’s Modern/Vintage photo shoot

First, Let me tell you there are LOTS of photos in this blog. 60 to be exact! Maybe it’s because I find it difficult to edit myself…LOL. But……. I fell in LOVE Tess’s photos! This photo shoot was done just before Christmas on a stunningly beautiful winter day. About an hour into our shoot I asked Tess if she ever considered modeling…..She laughed and said ” you probably say that to all your clients.” ” No, no, I don’t” I replied. I’m serious! Tess said she was too shy and awkward to consider modeling. I disagreed with her saying, she may be shy, but the awkward was more quirky, and only in the best possible way! The kind of quirky that makes you stand out as an individual. I’m always looking for that special spark in the people I photograph, that thing that makes them unique, that makes them who they are. That’s when you find a person’s true inner and outer beauty!

Tess chose to GLAM it up for her shoot. She wore a FABULOUS red vintage dress with a white tulle skirt to add fullness. A simply glamorous forest green gown that made her look like a 1940’s movie star. The wool cape with the cutoffs is a vintage piece that was made in London that I picked up at OOH LA LOFT. The adorable, super feminine ruffled strapless dress was paired with one of my favorite pieces, a white faux fur from FOR LOVE and LEMONS.

Tess was photographed in Petaluma, on the historical west side. Yes, I found the new mural in the alley and I LOVE IT!!!

Bay Area teen model photographer/ Trinity’s boho, retro shoot

Trinity is a beautiful, sweet and outgoing 15 year old that is stepping into the modeling world! Her session included a number of looks photographed in the studio and on location in  Petaluma. Her looks cover boho, retro and fitness. She loved boho looks so I added my favorite Turkish coin necklace and a black hat to her cutoffs, white tee & booties. The adorable white lace dress is from Petaluma’s own” Ooh La Loft” and was styled with a very special vintage french lace used as a headband. We shot on a chilly but sunny December afternoon and the light was spectacular! There’s something about a sunny winter sunset that I find absolutely magical. We also went to my favorite junk yard. Stay tuned, the junkyard story ( or what I thought was a junk yard and turned out to be a Burning Man warehouse and artists work space) coming soon! Since we took these photos, Trinity has had an audition and has a call back this week! GO TRINITY!!!
