Let’s talk about cute outfits for senior photos……
Kylie was a dream to photograph…..obviously she’s a beauty, but she also exuded a free and fun spirit that comes through in the photoshoot. She put together some adorable outfits as well. Not too trendy, you want to be able to look at them in 10 years and not wonder “what was I thinking.” She wore the most beautiful flowing, pastel toned dress that her sister Shanelle had worn in her Senior photos several years ago. Maxi dresses in a fabric that has movement when the wind catches have a romantic, etherial vibe. I always like the look of a jeans and white shirt. It’s classic but the style of top worn can add that personal style. Rompers have recently become an essential part of any styled photoshoot. Paired with booties and a hat and belt ( see Kylie’s photos below) and Voila, super cute outfit! I always like the look of a jeans and white shirt. Kylie was photographed during this years spectacular spring! With all the rain we had this year, the wildflowers were in full bloom in the Sonoma County countryside. Chocolate Horse Farm ( where I’ve been riding for about 17 years) is my go to spot for Sonoma Countys rolling hills. Petaluma’s historic and charming downtown was also used as a backdrop for Kylie’s Senior photos. Lindsey Neuerburg at Urban Elements Salon added gorgeous hair extensions for the photoshoot and Senior Prom.
Meet Charlotte and her horse Abe! Charlotte is an Ambassador for Mary J Murphy Senior Portraits from Petaluma High School . We met at Chocolate Horse Farm where we both ride horses a couple of years ago. Several months ago I saw her at St. Vincent’s Senior prom all done up in a beautiful dress with hair and makeup. I had know idea who she was but I knew she was someone I knew. Normally I see Charlotte in riding breeches & boots with her hair tucked into a helmet. It took a couple of hours until I realized who she was.
Abe is Charlotte’s 6 year old warmblood horse. Together, Charlotte & Abe compete in Three Day Eventing. A breathtaking sport that includes Dressage, Stadium Jumping and Cross Country Jumping. Definitely not for the faint of heart.

Meet Julia! 2018 Ambassador for MJM Senior Photos from Sonoma Academy! Julia is so much fun to work with. She is involved with preforming arts as an actress and has the most beautiful hair I’ve ever seen! Julia’s photoshoot was done on two different days. I really wanted to photograph her in the mustard fields with the beautiful yellow skirt designed by Altana Danzhalova San Francisco ( http://www.altanadanzhalova.com). Julia was leaving for Greece so we had just enough time to photograph her in the mustard fields while they were still in bloom. The rest would have to wait a couple weeks.
The second half of the shoot was all Julia! Photographed in the studio and in my pool house, then to a special spot I found off the beaten track. A small snake was there to greet us, YIKES!!! Good thing her Dad was there to remove it for us. Thanks Chris! Julia’s Mom Katherine is an AMAZING lady! She runs the Facebook Page “Nasty Classy Women” and is very involved in the resistance! I admire Katherine for her passion and dedication to this historic challenge our county is facing. Check out Julia’s photos below and see her for more information about Mary Jean Murphy Senior photography 2018!
